How it works
Your PDF never leaves your device. When you click Rotate, the tool loads the file with the pdf-lib library, reads the rotation currently stored on every page, adds the angle you picked, and saves a brand-new copy for you to download. Because it changes each page's rotation setting instead of re-rendering the content, the operation is instant and completely lossless — text stays selectable, images keep their resolution, and the file size barely changes.
How to rotate a PDF
Drop the file into the box or click to browse, then pick the angle you need: 90° clockwise (the default), 180° to flip it upside down, or 90° counter-clockwise. Press Rotate and the progress bar counts through every page until the download appears. Click Download .pdf and the rotated copy is saved as rotated.pdf, while your original file stays untouched on your device.
A concrete example
Say you scanned a two-sided bundle and every even page came out lying on its right side. You pick 90° clockwise, watch the progress bar tick through every page, and the whole batch straightens in a single pass. Because the rotation adds to whatever angle a page already carries, a page that still looks wrong can simply be rotated again with the same tool.
What to expect
The widget offers exactly three angles: 90° clockwise, 180° for upside-down pages, and 90° counter-clockwise. The chosen rotation is applied to every page of the document at once — there is no way to target a single page, so if only one page needs a turn, split the PDF first. The rotation adds to each page's existing orientation, and each of the three choices matches the clockwise or counter-clockwise direction shown in the list.
Common problems and fixes
If your reader still shows the old orientation, make sure you opened the newly downloaded rotated.pdf and not the original, then refresh the viewer to clear a cached copy. A password-protected PDF may fail to load and show an error message in the progress area — decrypt it first, then rotate. Since everything runs in your browser, closing the tab before the download appears means starting again with the original file.
Frequently asked questions
Can I rotate only some pages?
No — this tool rotates the whole document in one go. To fix just a few pages, split them out with our Split PDF tool, rotate that file, then merge it back together.
Does rotating reduce quality?
No. Only each page's rotation setting changes, so there is no re-compression and no loss of quality at all.
Is my PDF uploaded anywhere?
No. The file is processed entirely in your browser with pdf-lib and is never sent to any server — it only ever exists on your device.
What angles can I choose?
Three: 90° clockwise, 180° (upside down), and 90° counter-clockwise. There is no arbitrary-angle option; every choice is a full quarter or half turn.
Can I rotate the same PDF twice?
Yes. Each run adds the chosen angle on top of the rotation the pages already carry, so rotating twice at 90° equals a single 180° turn.
Why does my viewer still show the old orientation?
Make sure you opened the newly downloaded file rather than the original, and refresh the viewer if it had cached the previous version.
