How it works
Drop in as many images as you like and this tool re-encodes each one at the quality level you choose, redrawing it on a canvas with your browser's built-in image compression. It processes the whole batch in one go and shows the before-and-after size of every file, plus the total saved. Nothing is uploaded — all the compression happens on your device — and each result has its own download button.
How to compress an image
Start by dragging files into the drop zone or clicking to browse — JPG, PNG and WEBP are all accepted, and you can select several at once. Choose a quality preset: High keeps the image crisp for close viewing, Medium (the default) is a solid balance for the web and email, and Low pushes the size down hardest for thumbnails or previews. Then pick an output format: Same as input keeps each image's format, or force everything to JPG or WEBP. Hit Compress and each file comes back ready to download.
What to expect
The tool re-encodes at the selected quality without changing pixel dimensions, so a photo keeps its width and height while (usually) shrinking on disk. Results are saved with the suffix -min — for example photo.jpg becomes photo-min.jpg — so your originals are never overwritten. One detail to know: PNG is lossless, so a quality change alone won't shrink it much. Converting a PNG photo to JPG or WEBP gives a far bigger saving, and WEBP typically produces the smallest files at a given quality. When forcing JPG, transparent areas are filled with white.
A concrete example
Imagine you have twenty phone photos, each around 3 MB, that you need to email to a client on a 25 MB attachment limit. Upload them all at once, keep Same as input but switch to Low, compress, and you'll likely get each image down under a megabyte — well inside the limit with room to spare. Because the tool shows the before-and-after size for every file and a running total, you can spot the ones that benefit most and even raise the quality for a few while keeping the rest small.
Common problems and fixes
My PNG didn't get smaller. PNG is lossless, so the quality setting barely affects it — switch the output format to JPG or WEBP for a real reduction on photos. The image looks the same size. If the original is already heavily compressed or small, there is little left to remove; try Low quality or a WEBP output instead. A photo gets a white background. That happens when a file with transparency (typically a PNG) is converted to JPG, which has no alpha channel. One file failed or is skipped. Images the browser can't decode are left out and the rest of the batch still finishes.
